CREATIVE WRITING

Hi and
 Assalamualaikum!
I am Haziqah Najwa Bt Yusof
This work is made for my assignment tasks.
You are welcome to read, have fun reading :)

1. Modern Poem

What's Wrong?

My silver car,
Old and slow,
Yet overthrows Mercedes and Ford.
So, what's wrong?

My blue pants,
Short and ripped,
Yet just for sleep.
So, what's wrong?

My big books,
Thick and heavy,
Yet to be savvy.
So, what's wrong?
Don't judge me by your "This is wrong"

2. Travel Writing – Lake Toba, Indonesia
Lake Toba is one of the awesome natural wonders of the world. This enormous crater-lake has an island almost the size of Singapore in its centre. At over 1,145 square km, and a depth of 450 meters, Lake Toba is actually more like an ocean. This is the largest lake in Southeast Asia and one of the deepest lakes in the world. Lake Toba also known as The Largest Volcanic Lake in The World because of the volcano eruption around 70,000 years ago.
Toba is a place for those who want to sit back and relax. The view of picturesque mountains along with beautiful blue lake totally blew your holiday!
In this writing, I would like to share my experience of going there for my first overseas trip to Medan, Indonesia. Although I went there for my paper presentation. Who knows they eventually brought me to Lake Toba, Samosir Island, Batak Village and Sipiso Piso Waterfall.

Get There
Of course, you need to book a plane ticket to Medan first before going to Lake Toba.
Parapat, the town by Lake Toba, is 176 km from Medan and can be reached in under 6 hours by public bus which has two routes: Medan-Parapat or via Medan-Berastagi. I travelled there using travel agent which is for me, safer as this place is far from the centre of Medan and the road going up to Lake Toba is very dangerous and challenging (I could not sleep well during the night trip)
Still, the view of arriving to Lake Toba is indeed so mesmerizing. As the lake sits 900 meters above sea level there is a cooler climate here making a refreshing break from the heat, humidity and pollution of the city. So, do not forget to bring jacket or sweater to keep warm.

Samosir Island
Samosir is where most of the tourist activity takes place, as it represents the best place to view the whole lake. The journey to Samosir Island took around an hour by ferry. When I was there, I spent a night in one of the villa around the Lake Toba. What amazes me is the temperature there makes you forget aircond and fan in your guest house.
Then, Siallagan is one of several traditional Batak villages scattered around Samosir Island. Around the village there were several houses, but the only one we could enter was the museum. Truthfully there was not much inside the house but it was still interesting to see what the inside of the houses looked like.

Sipiso Piso Waterfall
Lake Toba is littered with waterfalls, but Sipiso Piso – at 120 meters high – is Indonesia’s largest waterfall. At the northernmost tip of the caldera, it flows right into the Lake itself. Sipiso-piso Waterfall is formed from a small underground river in Karo plateau that rushes out through a cave. The name Sipiso-piso in Bahasa Indonesia has a meaning of “like knife”. It came about because the water flow was sharp like a knife piercing through.
Coming there, a staircase leads to the base of the waterfall. It takes 1 hour to going down and 1 hour to going up. As for me, because the travel agent restricted out time there, I did not have the chance to go down. However, the view from above already satisfy us.

In conclusion, Lake Toba is a holiday experience that offers relaxation and adventure in equal measure. The Lake itself is incredibly (and surprisingly) clean. Perhaps due to the fact that the Batak people who have called it home for thousands of years a well aware of their relationship to it, and take great steps maintain it. It was indeed a short visit, but truly a memorable one.

3. Vignettes – You are not my daughter!
Then Uncle Raiden was pulling my arm hard, I begging him to let me go as it hurts. He ignored my request, brings me to my bedroom and lock me in. I was calling mom as I too afraid yet nobody respond. This house feel no longer secure for me. I need to find a way to escape! My run thought is to run away from home.
As in the action movie, I tried to unlock the door using a short wire. Trying for the first time, failed. Second time, failed. Third time, I tried so hard and “Click”
Yes! I made it. Carefully, I observe surrounding, looking out for anyone home. There was none to be seen, thank God. I take one step, two step walking out from home. Leaving the house, I felt empty.
This house before, was full of happiness with mom and dad. After dad left, mom become busy working and eventually found a new man- Uncle Raiden. He acted fine to me when mom’s around but little did she know what he’s been doing behind her back. It took me a lot of courage to tell mom about him. But, mom choose to believe him more than her own daughter. Mom’s changed!
Oh, I miss dad so much.

"A real woman can do it all by herself,
............. but a real man won't let her"

"Women were created from the rib of a man to be beside him, not from his head to top him, nor from his feet to be trampled by him, but from under his arm to be protected by him, near to his heart to be loved by him."

OFFICIALLY AN ADULT

14th Dec have passed. Number 17 is no longer mine. I have mixed feeling about officially being an adult now. Scared? for what?
Btw, there's nothing special about being a year older - i think for now
Oh, regarding my birthday, as usual my mom forgot about it. If my father had not called that day i think no cake for my birthday. I was in hometown so we celebrated it on 16th (without my father and older bro). They made a surprise jangg!! haha i'm happy 😊 yeayyy

Not to forget to those who wish for my birthday that night, haha i didn't expect that
I've read all the messages early in the morning since i fallen asleep early that night. (11.30 p.m)

Nothing changed. I'm still childish as usual. I hope to grow up as a better person.
as usual, that's all.
p/s: Seriously i need to practice my writing skills, this is not what a TESL student should write. I've unpublished my previous posts because they are too childish.
